Celebrity wedding dresses

After months of fantastic and fervent speculation following the announcement in November last year, Kate Middleton finally revealed what has been the biggest and best kept sartorial secret as she walked up the aisle in a beautiful Grace Kelly-esque silk and lace gown, designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.

Former model Juliette Norton found her way to Jamie Oliver’s heart and the couple were married in 2000. Her strapless white satin dress was designed by Neil Cunningham and stylishly accessorised with a pair of strapped white stilettos by Jimmy Choo.

Actress Liv Tyler said “I do” twice to partner Royston Langdon – once in Barbados and then again in New York. Liv is pictured here after the latter of the two ceremonies wearing an Alexander McQueen gown with an empire waistline and gilded band.

The marriage of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise was held in Bacciano, Italy, in 2006 and the bride wore a unique custom-designed gown that Giorgio Armani had created for the occasion. Katie’s off-the-shoulder dress came complete with an ivory silk train.

Argentine TV actress Luisana Lopilato and Canadian pop star Michael Bublé tied the knot at a religious ceremony in Buenos Aires earlier this year. The bride worn a beautiful satin fitted bodice complete with tiered lace skirt – just one of an array of dresses that she wore to three separate wedding receptions!

Renee Zellweger
We love that actress Renée Zellweger opted for a rather more unusual wedding – the star married her boyfriend of four months, Kenny Chesney, in a romantic ceremony on a hilltop overlooking the ocean on a US Virgin Island. The star wore a Carolina Herrera strapless bamboo twill gown and no shoes!

TV star Davina McCall looked beautiful in a strapless white gown and simple veil for her marriage to Matthew Robertson in 2000.

Music stars Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale married in 2002 at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, in London. The bride wore a custom-made pink-and-white silk fille wedding dress by John Galliano for Dior, complete with an antique lace veil.

Radio presenter Zoë Ball and DJ Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) were together for just a year before tying the knot at Babington House in Somerset. The full white dress with a fitted bodice was a good choice for Zoë, showing off her figure perfectly.

Actor Adam Sandler married his partner Jackie Titone at a private estate in Malibu, Los Angeles, in 2003. Jackie wore a Carolina Herrera gown with spaghetti straps and a sweetheart neckline, paired with 1920s platinum-and-diamond jewellery by Neil Lane.

TV presenter Tess Daly looked lovely in her simple strapless gown when she tied the knot with Vernon Kay in 2003.
